Our Plea To Those Searching For Truth
Since the death of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His church, the world has continued to exist for approximately 2,000 years. Much has changed in the world and even more has changed in religion. According to the Bible, Jesus intended to establish one church, which practiced one faith, believing one God, and preaching one hope (cf. John 17.17-23; Ephesians 4.3-6; 1 Corinthians 1.10, 13). However, the intention of Christ has been disregarded for there are hundreds of different churches which designate themselves by different names, creeds, practices, and governments.
Before Protestantism and long before Catholicism, there was the church that Jesus built! The church we read about in the New Testament of the Holy Scriptures (Matthew 16.18; Acts 20.28; Romans 16.16; Ephesians 1.20-23). Before there were creeds and long before there were traditions, there was the Bible! Denominations want to believe that their church follows the Bible, but when their beliefs, practices, and governments are contrary to God's law it is evident that their church has been established by a mere man. No better standard for religious faith and practice exists than the Bible. The Scriptures are able to make one wise unto salvation and is able to teach, reprove, correct, and instruct in righteousness (2 Timothy 3.15-17).
The church of Christ openly rejects the neglect and perversion of the Holy Scriptures. We commence our existence as a church under the banner, "The Bible our only guide; the Bible we must rightly divide!" We ignore all man-made names, creeds, and practices and count them as rivals to the unerring and infallible Word of God. The church of Christ seeks to return to the biblical pattern of religion as demonstrated in the New Testament of the Bible. Our plea is for religious unity! Yet, not at the cost of a perverted Gospel, but by the relinquishment of man-made teachings for New Testament Christianity! We encourage an investigation into our beliefs and practices. You will find that our belief and practices are strictly biblical.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God is our King (cf. Colossians 1.18), and under Him elders, deacons, evangelists, and teachers serve the congregation (cf. Ephesians 4.11-16).
Individually we are Christians and collectively the church of Christ (cf. Acts 11.26; Romans 16.16; 1 Corinthians 12.27).
Our worship is identical with the worship of the church in the Bible (cf. Acts 2.41, 42). We preach and maintain the apostles' doctrine (cf. Galatians 1.6-9; 2 Thessalonians 2.15).We are a people who love one another (cf. John 13.34, 35). We have all surrendered Gospel allegiance to Jesus Christ and are zealous of good works (cf. Ephesians 2.10; Titus 2.14).
After a thorough investigation we pray that you will rejoice in discovering the truth: the church of the Bible exists! When Jesus returns He will save His church (cf. Ephesians 5.23).
Why not be just a Christian? Why not follow just the Bible? Break away from traditions of men, man-made names, and unauthorized churches. At the church of Christ in Beeville, Texas we are doing just that. Come and join us as we seek to worship God acceptably with reverence and godly fear (Hebrews 12.28).
