The underlying principle to which this plan is devoted is the formation of Christ in every member--"Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus" (Colossians 1.28). The aim of our program, Perfecting The Saints, is to supply each member with the unaltered knowledge, understanding, and wisdom of God (cf. Proverbs 2.1-6). To the end, that we may achieve the level of maturity that brings full possession of the graces and qualities which are in Christ, the head of the church. There are two energies at work within us: spiritual wickedness and the Word of God (cf. Ephesians 2.2; 1 Thessalonians 2.13). The more we yield ourselves to either one, the stronger we become--of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness (Romans 6.16). It is our intention to supply the congregation with more opportunity for the living and active Word to do its work. If God's Word is able to build us up, then to His Word we must go (cf. Acts 20.32)! "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth bud...So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing where to I sent it" (Isaiah 55.10, 11). God has provided the motivation and the action, and all that is lacking is our submission (Phillipians 2.13)! Perfecting the Saints is a three year curriculum structured for education and application. This program is designed to assist the cultivation of Christian character. Our efforts as a congregation will be to "provoke unto love and good works" (Hebrews 10.24). We shall organize properly, train extensively, and motivate thoroughly! "This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works" (Titus 3.8). May the Lord know our works, our love, our service, our faith, and our patience. May our present work be more than when we first begun!
